The Tatra Project is a non-profit California
Public Benefit Corporation. It has been set up principally to promote understanding of life in the former Soviet Republics and their satellite
states during Soviet rule, and how those years of domination affect life there today. The overall goal is to advocate for the religious, cultural, human and civil rights of the peoples in these countries to the exent allowed by laws. The Tatra Project makes use of research and study in Eastern Europe to promote knowledge and understanding in the United States of life today in Lithuania and the Baltics.
The Tatra Project is named symbolically
after the Tatra Mountain Range, the highest in Eastern Europe. Their
peaks and forests have long provided both resources and refuge to the
people of Eastern Europe. And their waters flow across borders, languages
and cultures from the Baltic Sea in the north to the Adriatic and Black
Seas in the south.
